What does an AFL player and an ex Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing have in common?
To answer that question we need to go back to 2011
In Autumn 2011 James Podsiadly who was then an AFL player and subsequently has become the defense coach for the Adelaide Crows was seeking advice on a concept for a kids wellness program he had conceived and was introduced to Paul Baulch by a mutual friend.
Paul with his extensive experience in implementing and managing health and wellness programs at some of Australia’s largest corporates was always going to have an impact.
After a whirlwind 6 months, which saw them both present the concept to the likes of the Victorian Government and some of Australia’s leading corporates they decided to formalise their partnership.
Enter the Reactivate Group
As a result of the chance meeting The Reactivate Group was born with a sense of ‘why wouldn’t we’ when you consider both James’ and Paul’s expertise, experience, energy and passion to make a difference in this ever increasingly important space.
Along with James’ commitments as an AFL player/coach and Paul’s then so called ‘semi-retirement’ lifestyle sitting on charity boards and consulting on OHS the ‘odd couple’ are working with global organisations on holistic wellbeing and building a more resilient workforce.
Philosophy of holistic wellbeing
The years of research conducted by James and Paul quickly unearthed both a problem and a major opportunity. Today’s wellbeing programs are not multi-faceted and more often than not focus in only one or two areas of wellbeing rather than being holistic.
Creating a holistic behavior change workplace wellbeing program
So they set about creating a digital platform, which uses methodology born out of both behaviour change and behavioural economics models as the engine. They then added contemporary engagement techniques such as gamification and variable rewards to deliver a powerful 10-week individualised wellbeing program that is delivered via a smart phone and which not only delivers high levels of engagement and measurable ROI, but also which users love to use.
Where to from here?
James and Paul show no signs of resting on their laurels. Work is now commencing on further developing the platform and also to roll out a new suite of new wellbeing related products that build onto the platform. So watch this space.
